Prefixes each regular-expression metacharacter in a string with a backslash.

Parameters:

• $string (string)

Returns: string

Availability

• Compiled (AOT): supported by the Elephc code generator.
• eval() (magician interpreter): supported — declarative interpreter builtin (crates/elephc-magician/src/interpreter/builtins/string/quotemeta.rs).
